The KEMRI-Wellcome Trust Research Programme was formed in 1989 and has since grown from a small group of 12 people to an international research programme hosting over 150 research scientists and 700 support staff working across Kenya, Uganda and the region. Our scientific themes draw together researchers from different disciplines to work on health problems of local priority, and to enhance the rapid dissemination and uptake of findings into policy and practice. We have over the years excelled in use of novel ideas working with local communities to achieve better health for Africa while also developing African scientific leaders.
